Founder & Head Baker, Black Rose European Bakery
Long Rocheford’s journey in baking began in 1998 at Gerardo’s Bakery, where she cultivated her craft before briefly pursuing a career in the tech industry. Though her path veered, her passion for pastry never faded. In Chicago, she trained under world-renowned chefs Sébastien Canonne, M.O.F., and Jacquy Pfeiffer, deepening her expertise in the art of French baking.
Driven by a love for precision and beauty, Long traveled to Europe to study under the esteemed Chef Therry, further refining her skills and expanding her culinary vision. Upon returning to the U.S., she rejoined Gerardo and played a pivotal role in evolving his business into Gerardo’s European Bakery.
In 2022, after years of dedication and mentorship, Gerardo passed the torch to Long. Inspired by her mother, Rose, Long transformed the bakery into Black Rose European Bakery, blending classic European technique with her own creative vision—bringing refined, elegant pastries to American tables.
